the perfect cry story
In the fall of 2003,
Hugh van der Linden was
asked to be in charge of the
music at the 12:30
Contemporary Mass at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church in
Long Beach, CA. Using some
singers from the church and
recruiting a few veteran
musicians, the perfect cry
was formed.
Their mission is to offer
parishioners a liturgy that
has contemporary, rock 'n roll
based music .
It seems as though this is just
what people were waiting for.
The average attendance at
the 12:30 Mass has grown
from 80 people to
approximately 300 since the
perfect cry started playing.
Gradually, they have
introduced some original
songs which have been well
received by the congregation.
During the summer of 2004,
they recorded several of
these tunes which are on
their self-titled demo-CD. In
April 2006, they released a
full-length CD titled
"Touching Stars." It is filled
with catchy rock anthems and
stirring ballads.
